Nissan VH45DE engineThe Nissan VH45DE is a 4.5 L (4,494 cc, 274.24 cu·in) V8 natural aspirated four-stroke liquid-cooled internal combustion gasoline engine, manufactured by the Nissan Motor Corporation since 1989 to 2001.

The Nissan VH45DE engine has a V8 aluminum cylinder block, dual-overhead camshafts (DOHC) design for increased efficiency and optimal power transfer. This engine used a multi-point fuel injection system and electronic controlled “Coil-on-Plug” ignition system with an individual coil for each spark plug. The VH45DE motor featured variable valve timing (VTC) from 1990 until 1995.

The Nissan VH45DE engine produced from 271 PS (199 kW; 267 HP) at 5,600 rpm to 281 PS (207 kW; 277 HP) at 6,000 rpm of maximum horsepower and from 394 N·m (40.2 kg·m, 290.4 ft·lb) at 4,000 rpm to 400 N·m (40.8 kg·m, 294.8 ft·lb) at 4,000 rpm of peak torque.

A 93.0 mm (3.66 in) cylinder bore and 82.7 mm (3.26 in) piston stroke give the VH45DE engine a total of 4,494 cc of displacement. Compression ratio rating is 10.2:1.

The engine used an aluminum cylinder block, forged steel crankshaft, forged steel connecting rods, 6-bolt main bearing caps with studs, full-length main bearing girdle, floating pistons with molybdenum coating. Each piston is fitted with two compression rings and a single oil ring.

Connecting rod length is 147.0 mm (5.78 in), crankshaft main journal diameter is 63.960 mm (2.5181 in) and crankpin diameter is 51.970 mm (2.0461 in).
