The Caterpillar C1.5 is a 1.5 L (1,496 cc, 91.29 cu·in) natural aspirated or turbocharged three-cylinders four-stroke liquid-cooled internal combustion vertical diesel engine, manufactured by Caterpillar Inc. for general-purpose applications.
The Cat C1.5 engine has a three-cylinders, cast-iron cylinder block, overhead valve design, indirect injection fuel system, 12 volts electric starter motor, and 12 Volts (65 amp) alternator and glow plug starting aid. This engine used a belt-driven coolant pump and coolant temperature switch. The lubrication system consists of a closed-circuit breather, spin-on lube oil filter, lube oil pressure switch, and lube oil sump.
Naturally aspirated version of the CAT C1.5 engine produced:
- EU Stage IIIA emission standards: From 28.4 PS (20.9 kW; 28.0 HP) at 2,200 rpm to 34.1 PS (25.1 kW; 33.7 HP) at 3,000 rpm of maximum output power and 79.9 N·m (8.1 kg·m, 58.9 ft·lb) at 3,000 rpm of torque.
- U.S. EPA Tier 4 Final emission standards: 24.9 PS (18.4 kW; 24.7 HP) at 2,100 rpm.
- U.S. EPA Tier 4 Interim emission standards: From 28.2 PS (20.7 KW; 27.8 HP) at 2,200 rpm to 34.1 PS (25.1 KW; 33.7 HP) at 3,000 rpm of peak horsepower.

Cylinder bore and piston stroke are 84.0 mm (3.31 in) and 90.0 mm (3.54 in), respectively. Compression ratio rating is 22.5:1. The engine used cast iron engine block and cast iron exhaust manifold.
