Caterpillar C1.6The Caterpillar C1.6 is a 1.5 L (1,508 cc, 92.0 cu·in) natural aspirated four-cylinders four-stroke liquid-cooled internal combustion vertical diesel, manufactured by Caterpillar Inc. for general-purpose applications.

The Cat C1.6 engine has a four-cylinders, cast-iron cylinder block, overhead valve design, indirect injection fuel system, 12 volts electric starter motor and 12 Volts alternator. This engine used a belt-driven coolant pump and coolant temperature switch. Lubrication system consists of a closed-circuit breather, spin-on lube oil filter, lube oil pressure switch and lube oil sump.

The Caterpillar C1.6 engine produced:

  • EU Stage IIIA emission standards: From 33.5 PS (24.6 KW; 33 HP) at 2,800 rpm to 36 PS (26.5 KW; 35.5 HP) at 3,000 rpm of maximum output power and 84.6 Nm (8.63 kg·m; 62.43 ft·lb) at 2,800 rpm of torque.
  • U.S. EPA Tier 4 Interim emission standards: From 33.5 PS (24.6 KW; 33 HP) at 2,800 rpm to 36 PS (26.5 KW; 35.5 HP) at 3,000 rpm of power.

Cylinder bore and piston stroke are 77.0 mm (3.03 in) and 81.0 mm (3.19 in), respectively. Compression ratio rating is 22.9:1. The engine used cast iron engine block, cast iron exhaust manifold and inlet manifold with choice of inlets.
