The Honda ES4500 is single-phase AC/DC 115V/230V portable generator with 4.5 kVA of maximum power and 3.6 kVA of rated power and 60 Hz of rated frequency. The direct current terminals can be used for charging 12-volt automotive-type batteries only up to 8.3A.
The Honda ES4500 generator uses a single-cylinder Honda G400 K1 gasoline engine (406 cc; 24.8 cu.in.). The engine has a side-valve (L-head) design and camshaft driven by a single row chain driven by the crankshaft. The G400 uses a horizontal carburetor with a butterfly valve and CDI ignition system. The cylinder bore and the piston stroke are 86.0 mm (3.4 in) and 70.0 mm (2.8 in), respectively. The compression ratio rating is 6.5:1.
The G400 produced 10.0 HP (7.45 kW) at 3600 rpm of maximum horsepower and torque was 22.5 Nm (2.3 kg·m) at 3600 rpm.
