Honda GX270 K1

Honda GX270 K1 engineThe Honda GX270 K1/T1/UT1 is a 270 cc, (16.5 cu·in) natural aspirated single-cylinder four-stroke air-cooled internal combustion small gasoline engine with a horizontal shaft, manufactured by Honda Motor Company for general-purpose applications, such as construction equipment, tillers, generators, welders, pumps and other industrial applications.

The Honda GX270 K1 engine has a single-cylinder inclined by 25°, overhead valve (OHV) design, horizontal type carburetor with butterfly valve, transistorized magneto ignition system, mechanical splash type lubricating system and forced-air cooling system. The GX270 K1 engine could be equipped with a single element type, dual-element type, oil-bath type or a cyclone-type air cleaner. The GX270 K1 used a 6.0 L (1.59 US. gal. 1.32 Imp. gal.) fuel tank.

The Honda GX270 engine produced 9.1 PS (6.7 kW; 9.0 HP) at 3,600 rpm of maximum output power and 19.5 N·m (2 kg·m, 14.4 ft·lb) at 2,500 rpm of peak torque.

Engine models with other features were also available:

  • H type – 1/6 reduction type PTO, this version produced 102.0 N·m (10.2 kg·m, 74 ft·lb) at 420 rpm of peak torque;
  • L type – 1/2 reduction type PTO, it produced 34.0 N·m (3.4 kg·m, 24 ft·lb) at 1,250 rpm of torque;
  • R type – 1/2 reduction type PTO with the centrifugal clutch.
